How to use Google Pay

Pay in person

Tap. Pay. Done. It’s that easy. You don’t even need to open the app – simply wake your device by tapping the home or power button to pay in person with a tap of your phone. You can use Google Pay wherever contactless payments are accepted. For transactions over $100 you will need to enter your PIN at the terminal.

Pay online

Speed through checkout online. With Google Pay, you can pay with a few quick clicks in apps and on the web. No need to enter your payment info. Simply select the Google Pay icon at the checkout.

Choice, Simplicity and Security

Google Pay offers a smart way to make fast purchases with any credit or debit card, across compatible Android devices that is both simple and secure.

Google Pay doesn’t send your actual credit or debit card number with your payment - so your card details stay safe.

You’ll know exactly when and where your transactions occur - making it easy to catch any suspicious activity. And if your phone is ever lost or stolen, you can instantly lock your device from anywhere, secure it with a new password, and wipe it clean of your personal information.
So whether you’re in-store or in-app – with Google Pay, a simple and secure checkout is always just a phone tap away!

Is using my WAW Visa Debit card in Google Pay app safe?

Yes. Google Pay has a number of security features.

  • Your physical card number is not stored on your phone.
  • Just like a contactless transaction with your WAW Visa Debit card, Google Pay will not work for purchases over $100 unless you enter your PIN at the terminal.
  • You’ll need to have a screen lock active on your phone. Google Pay will not work without a PIN, password or pattern screen lock.
  • If your phone is ever lost or stolen, you can use Android Device Manager to instantly lock your device, or even wipe it clean of any personal information.
  • You will continue to enjoy $0 liability for unauthorised transactions the same as when using your physical card.
